Slap Braclet Deemed Dangerous

February 27th, 2006

Yesterday my roomate Alan and I drove out to Fry’s so Alan could price some computer parts. We didn’t end up buying anything until we were on our way out and we saw the $ .35 soda machine. I had a dollar on me, and I was parched from the 2 hours or walking around drooling at electronics, so I bought us a couple of colas.

This left me with a Nickle and a Quarter. Im not a big fan of carrying around change, so I looked across the way to the $.25 candy machines. I didn’t feel like getting any candy, but their was a machine that dispensed cheap version of those slap braclets we used to all have in elementary school. I bought one and was quite surprised at how small it was. I decided to take it apart and realized it was simply a metric measuring tape cut to about 140 decimeters long. I thought this was kind of cool so I took it home.

This brings me to the “incident.” I was rotating my computer tower to show Alan what the inside looked like while holding the slap braclet / tape measure, when the braclet got caught between the wall and my palm. Needless to say the wall is a bit denser than my hand, so the braclet sliced into my hand, causing much bleeding.

Moral of the story, dont buy cheap slap braclets from Fry’s.
