An End, And A Beginning
March 23rd, 2006
Yes! Finals are finished. Classes are over. This quarter is complete. As I look back at what has changed since the start of the quarter, I take account of what I have gained, and what I have lost. I learned alot this quarter. Some of it in classes to be sure, especially computer networks, which I thought was a very interesting and exceptionally relevant class. Other lessons were much harder, and more personal. I ended things with Kate, an act I am still very conflicted about, but believe it was for the best. Its hard letting go of someone you care about, even if you know its the right thing to do.
I saw her today for the first time since Jessica’s birthday party. She had died her hair blondish, and cut it. She looked really pretty. It was a little awkward at first. We talked about how she came over yesterday, when I wasn’t home, to pick up her “stuff,” much to the scandal of my roommates. “It’s like you two are divorced.” Raymond told me. It kind of feels that way. We talked about her cutting her hair, and how she probably wont make it to our party in April because it’s her mom’s 50th birthday. This was a relief to me, because I thought she wasn’t coming because it would be too hard, or awkward to hang out around me now. After we talked for a bit I had to get going to work. It was really good to see her again.
It’s been hard the last couple of weeks, trying to move on. I was the one who ended it, but that didn’t make it easy. Even if we still talk, I essentially lost my best friend, and I know things will never be the same again.
But life goes on, and as I close this chapter of my life, I begin a new one. Starting with spring break, or spring weekend, stupid academic calendar planners. But that’s another story. Tomorrow after 9 hours of work (7:30 to 5) I will be heading back to La Puente. Ill be accompanying my church youth group, and my family to a winter camp somewhere in the local mountains. It should be pretty cool, Ill get to hang out with Chris, Jen, and my sisters, and see Brandon, who I rarely get to see. It should be a blast, and it will help me unwind a bit from this, rather eventful quarter.
