Last Day of Finals
March 24th, 2006
Today was pretty busy. I started the day at about 6am by re-setting my alarm to 6:45am in order to get up for work. Usually work is pretty chill, there are the occasional probs that need to be taken care of, but nothing major. I figured today would be even chill-er seeing as it was the last day of finals, and hardly anyone would be left on campus. Yeah, No.
The day started as planned, I checked opening times for the labs to make sure everyone showed up to their shifts. I bragged a little to the managers about how the Lakers beat the Kings last night. I delivered a film scanner to the death star. Then I went to Olson to check into some obscure problem, which turned out to not be a problem at all. Things were going pretty slow.
Then Quico came in. I don’t know if it was because it was the last day he was going to have HWS around for a while, or because I was giving him a hard time about the Kings losing to the Lakers, but he suddenly remember alot of things that needed to be done. He had me prepping computers for the bargain barn, and moving chairs to the bargain barn. Then I had to take care of supply run, and do a printer maintenance.
It wasn’t bad, but It was more work than I had been expecting to do, and It was a long 9 hour shift. Also, I saw alot of people on campus today that I knew, more than usual. I saw Rich outside of SLB, I saw Ingrid inside SLB, I saw Kate and someone else driving the box truck by the silo. I saw Tara, and I think Geri in the Library (with the candlestick?), and Vanessa in the MU. I was really surprised to see so many people I knew on the last day of finals. Usually don’t see anyone I know on campus.
After work I went home and got ready to fly back to So-Cal. After I was all packed, and made sure I had my hard drive to share music with my sisters, Kim and I went to Chipotle to grab some food before she gave me a lift to the airport. It was good times reminiscing about the quarter, and stuff. Of course at this point I had about 40 minutes till my plane was to leave, so we rushed to the airport.I made it to my gate just in time. The southwest airlines staff was not as friendly as usual. When I tried to pick up my boarding pass, the lady just looked at me like, what do you want, then said “YES?” Then the flight attendants weren’t having a good night, probably because it was the last flight and it was packed with 4th graders heading to So.Cal. for something (Disneyland?).
Anyway, I finally made it home and caught up with all the gossip / drama going on at the church and with the family. It was good to hang out with my parents for a bit. Tomorrow afternoon we leave for what is sure to be a fun filled weekend with the Youth Group. Ill let you know how it goes.
Also, I read something today about how to become an “Early Riser.” Pretty much how to learn to wake up early. Its pretty simple, the technique the author suggested was to set your alarm for the same time every morning, and get up immediately, no matter what. Then don’t try to go to sleep early, that’s the mistake he says most people make, just stay up until you are really tired, and want to sleep. He says this will train your body to get the right amount of sleep by making you sleepy when it needs sleep. I thought this was pretty interesting and may give it a try. I think I’ll start tomorrow, however it may be hard to do over the weekend, as everyone else will probably still be asleep at 6 a.m. and it would be very boring to just sit there by myself, but we’ll see. Ill keep you posted.
