Haunted House?
May 19th, 2006
As I was walking to my car today, after work, I decided to call Alan to ask him if he had heard any news on the applications we had pending on a couple of houses. He told me he hadn’t heard anything but he told me he would call and get back to me.
I was particularly intersted in a house we had looked at last Friday. It was a nice house, the rooms were huge, and it was only $1500. The owner told us the first person to pay the application fee and submit an application would get the house. We decided to jump on this opportunity, but didn’t have our checkbooks to pay the fee. We told him we would meet him at his house with our checkbook, and submit the applications right there. While waiting another person paid the application fee and recieved an application, but did not submit it.
We met the owner at his house and he came out and gave us a few applications. We filled them out right there in front of his house, on the hood of my car. When we turned them into him, the landlord told us that the other person was really interested but that they were not able to move in until September, when the house was a availble in July. He said if the other party was willing to move-in in July, then whoever had better credit would get the house, but if they could not move in early then we would get the house.
I was feeling pretty good, as the odds were in our favor of getting the house, but we hadn’t heard anything so I asked Alan to check in. A few minutes later Alan calls me back to tell me someone else had already put down a deposit on the house.
WHAT!?!?
We didn’t even get called, AND the guy cashed our $20 each application fee. This was ridiculous. However, the owner said he had another house we coud look at which was the same model.
We walked up to this house in the rain (yeah it was raining, yesterday it was like 85 degrees). The lawn is really overgrown, but it doesn’t bother me too much. The house is the same model as the one we saw, supposedly the backyard is a little smalller, but not by much. We look around and we get the garage where the owner shows us where a previous tenant cut a whole in the wall, and reversed one of the outlets to grow marijuana. real nice. Then he tells us, “I don’t know if you want to hear this, but one of the previous tenants hung himself in this garage.”…..a haunted garage, sweet.
Just think of the fun we could have in this house!
