A Black Apple MacBook to be precise.
My old laptop has been showing its age, and while it still runs fine, it cant handle to most modern applications like it once could. Also, the battery and CD drive no longer stay in, as the clips which hold them in place were destroyed when it was dropped at the Flamingo by a bell boy/girl. (GRRRR)
So it was time for a new machine. But why the MacBook? I was never a fan of the Macintosh, but when OS X came out I began to slowly warm up to them. It is a very good operating system which is much cleaner and more pleasant to work in than windows. The incompatibility between Mac and Windows was a reason I never liked Macs, but now that they use Intel chips this leaves the door open to install Windows on them if need be.
I had my eye on the MacBook Pro. Partly because it had more power, but also because it had a sleek aluminum case. However, the pro is a bit pricey, and it no longer comes in a 13 inch screen (the 15 inch is a bit large for a true portable user). When Apple annouched the MacBook, in black, I knew I had found my new computer. After seeing it in person I was only further determined that this was the machine for me.
As the cashier was ringing up my new computer, I looked down at a MacBook Pro box, which was priced at $1350, slightly cheaper than the MacBook I was about to purchase. The cashier told me it was the older model with a slightly slower processor. I was faced with a sudden dilemma. I could upgrade to the higher model MacBook Pro, for essentially the same price, but I would have to sacrifice .17GHz. I thought to myself, thats totally worth it. But as I examined each machine, I realized I had made the right choice in the first place. The Pro was too large, did not have the magnetic lid, and did not look as cool as the black MacBook. So, I knew I had made the right choice.
This is my first post from a Mac, and so far I’m liking it…..
