Kate and I Got Married!

April 1st, 2007

Today started out like any other day, Kate and I were eating breakfast and discussing what was going to happen between us once we moved back to our respective hometowns. We talked about how difficult it was to be apart for 6 months, and that when we moved back home we wouldn’t be able to see each other too often, and that who knows what would happen then. I joked that we could get married while we were here and then get a place together somewhere when we get back.

We kind of just laughed it off, but a little while later Brianne came home with a friend of hers. She introduced him and mentioned he was ordained through one of those online sites that ordains people for free. Kate and I looked at each other, and we knew it was a sign.

I got on my knees right there and asked Kate if she would marry me.

She said YES!

We asked the guy if he would marry us today, and he was excited to acutually use the powers the internet gave him. He told us it wouldn’t be vaild in Ireland, but we could file the marriage certificate when we got back to California.

Brianna had told me to do something spontaneous while I was in Ireland, so I decided I didn’t want to wait. We got dressed up and walked down to the beach.

It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, and the grass was green. On the sand with Simon and Brianne as our witnesses, we were married.

I know many of you will be disappointed that you wern’t able to be a part of it, but we will probably have a ceremony when we get back to the States so everyone can celebrate.

You can see pictures of the ceremony here.
