Coda: XCode for Web Development

April 25th, 2007

Panic software recently released Coda, a all in one web-development environment for OS X that combines an ftp client, text editor, CSS editor, DOM inspector, Terminal, and reference guide for HTML, CSS, php, and javascript. I used to 5 different applications to do the same thing! Now, if it was only open source.

Check it out.

I agree with you about Coda not being licensed as open source. I am an advocate of open source and constantly creating and exploring new solutions without a price tag, for more than 6 years. However I can’t find anything as great as Coda. Smultron + Cyberduck is the only current solution I found as a plausible candidate.

In the end I am now using Coda for my paid services but will keep an eye open for anything else.
